On EP46 of the #AskGaryVee Show, from 1:23 to 3:08, Gary Vaynerchuk answers a viewer question about endurance.

A viewer asks “How many failures and punches to the face can a person handle before achieving success?”

Gary states that not everyone is an entrepreneur just because they call themselves one.

He states most people take one body blow — one failure, and retreat to the safety and security of a regular job. For most people, that is the path they should walk.

How many "punches in the face" & failures can an ordinary person handle before achieving success @garyvee ? #AskGaryVee

Speaking as someone who has been punched in the face both literally and figuratively, hustling is hard. Experiencing true failure and rising from the ashes is hard. But having a hustle of your own means you have power that no one can take from you. Having a business of your own means you aren’t entirely dependent on someone else for survival.

We all fall somewhere on the spectrum between being a career employee and an all-out entrepreneur. But it’s the tenacity and refusal to give up that separates the two extremes.

I encourage you to learn how to (metaphorically) hunt your own food, run your own hustle, or build your own business. Otherwise you’ll always be at the mercy of someone else — waiting for them to give you a paycheck, a job, your very survival.

You’ll be surprised what kind of strength you possess if you’re not afraid of being punched in the face and getting back up again.
